POLICE CHASE RESULTS IN HEAD ON COLLISION

Thursday, December 10, 2009 13:39 On Thursday afternoon Charles County Sheriffs became involved in a police chase from Waldorf to Accokeek. The Sheriffs chased two suspects down Gardner Road where they collided head-on with another vehicle. Units from Accokeek, Brandywine, and Waldorf were alerted to the call. Chief 24 was passing the area and was the first to arrive on scene followed immediately by Waldorf Engine 31. The extrication was completed by Engine 31 while additional personnel provided EMS care. Both Troopers 2 and 7 were called to the scene to medevac two of the patients. A third patient was transported by ground to PG Trauma Center. All fire department units cleared by 1430.

Turkey Day Fire

Thursday, November 26, 2009 03:00 Early Thanksgiving morning a box alarm was struck in Company 24's area for a reported house under construction on fire in the area of Accolawn Road and Accokeek Road West. Engine 242 arrived on the scene with a vacant house currently undergoing renovations, on Accolawn Raod, with a large amount of fire in the carport area extending into the living room and attic area.  The crew of 5 personel quickly went to work, under the direction of Deputy Chief Floyd Gillis, advancing an attack line into the structure. Additional arriving units pulled a back up line and secured utilities to the house. The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. Due to the house being vacant and under renovations the PG County Arson investigation team was called. Engine 242 remained on scene until approximately 1000 when they were released by investigators.
