Turkey Day Fire

Thursday, November 26, 2009 03:00 Early Thanksgiving morning a box alarm was struck in Company 24's area for a reported house under construction on fire in the area of Accolawn Road and Accokeek Road West. Engine 242 arrived on the scene with a vacant house currently undergoing renovations, on Accolawn Raod, with a large amount of fire in the carport area extending into the living room and attic area.  The crew of 5 personel quickly went to work, under the direction of Deputy Chief Floyd Gillis, advancing an attack line into the structure. Additional arriving units pulled a back up line and secured utilities to the house. The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. Due to the house being vacant and under renovations the PG County Arson investigation team was called. Engine 242 remained on scene until approximately 1000 when they were released by investigators.
