ACCOKEEK VOLUNTEER RETIRES FROM NDW FIRE DEPARTMENT

     

Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Naval District of Washington Fire Department Battalion Chief, and Accokeek Volunteer, Thomas Barnes has announced that he has retired from the federal fire service. Chief Barnes has proudly served as a federal firefighter for 35 years. He began his service in 1974 with the Andrew's Air Force Base Fire Department. He later transferred to the National Airport Fire Department in 1978 and remained there until 1985 when he came to the Naval District of Washington. During his tenure he has served as a Firefighter, Captain, and then Battalion Chief for the Central Battalion. Even though he may be retired, he still plans to ride the fire trucks with the Accokeek Volunteers. Chief Barnes we thank you for your dedicated service to the US Navy and the many firefighters whose respect you have rightfully earned. Thank you.
