FIRST DUE HOUSE FIRE

Sunday, January 15, 2012 1809 On Sunday evening just as the volunteers were finishing up with another bingo fundraiser PSC dispatched a reported house fire in the area of Accokeek Road and Livingston Road. Engine 241, Engine 242, Chief 24-A and the Ambulance (from 47’s area) responded on the call with a total of 8 volunteers. Once in the area crews found smoke conditions but could not immediately locate the source. The trucks quickly spread out to check the area and found a vacant two story house off the road with a fire on the second floor. The crew advanced a 2 ½” stack tip line over a road blockage, a fence and through the yard to the second floor. Once upstairs they found two rooms on fire with extension into the attic. Firefighters worked quickly to open the house up and locate all hidden fire in the void spaces. The crews remained on the scene for four hours while the cause of the fire was investigated.
