Sunday, May 9, 2010 02:00 Company 24 was alerted for a motor vehicle accident on Berry Road at Manning Road East. As units were arriving on the scene, communications advised that they had a report of people trapped with the vehicle on fire. The volunteers from Accokeek quickly checked the cars and determined that no one was trapped but one car was on fire. EMS crews determined that one driver had apparently fled the scene, but a second was still present suffering from head trauma. As crews worked to stabilize trauma patient and extinguish the car fire the second driver re-appeared from the woods also suffering from severe head trauma. A second ambulance was called to the scene to assist the units. Both patients were eventually transported to MedStar Trauma Center.
